After blocking the bag, I shaved it. And now it's ready! The bag is ready to go shopping and have some fun! I gave it to Theresa, (Rachel's program supervisor) as a thank you gift for everything she has done for us.
La cartera de fieltro está lista para ir a dar un paseo o ir de compras...Tuve primero que razurarla un poco pero ya quedó perfecta! Se la regalé a Teresa, la supervisora del programa de Rachel, con mucho cariño.

Out of the washer!

This my cutie right out of the washing machine and going through the blocking process. I cutted a piece of cardboard and placed in the bottom and then stuffed it with plastic bags. I love the groovy effect of the shaggy fur around the border ! I am having second thoughts about giving it away... LOL The final measurements were 8.5" x 3.5" for the bottom and 8.5 x 6.5" for each side. Which means that measurements decreased 2.5 to 3" in average (about 25%)
Esta es mi "corrongera" ya salida de la lavadora y en proceso de "bloqueo" (todavía no se si hay otro termino en español para blocking) Corté un pedazo de cartón y lo puse en la base para que tome forma y luego rellené el bolso con bolsas plásticas de supermercado. Me encanta el efecto de la lana peludita en la orilla! Me estoy arrepintiendo de regalar esta cartera, que voy a hacer? Las medidas finales fueron 8.5" x 3.5" en la base y 8.5 x 6.5" para los lados, osea que se redujo entre 2.5 y 3" (más o menos un 25%)

My first felted project

Hello friends, this is my first felted bag. Well, it is not felted yet. I got into the bag fever because of my friends at Creative Pursuits. I went the other day and saw the beautiful bags they were making and decided to knit my own. This particular bag is my version of the Sophie bag. It takes about 12 hours to complete this project. I added some red fur on the top for a personal touch. The measurements before felting are: 10 x 4" for the rectangle bottom of the bag and 12 3/4" x 9 1/2 for the semi-triangle formed by each side of the bag. I am afraid that the part with the fur will not felt so well since it is made of nylon and not wool... But we will see what happens tomorrow... Stay tune for my first felting adventure...

Hola amigos y amigas, este es mi primer proyecto de "fieltro". Es un bolso que se teje con lana de oveja y al hecharlo en la lavadora reduce su tamaño y queda como si fuera de fieltro. Yo le añadí una lana peludita en el borde superior para darle un toque personal pero tengo miedillo de que esa parte no se convierta en fieltro debido a que la lana peluda es hecha de nylon y no lana, y solo la lana de oveja sirve para producir este efecto. (por eso es que los artículos de lana no se pueden lavar en la lavadora ya que se produciría este efecto de fieltro)
Las medidas antes de hecharlo en la lavadora son: 10 x 4" para la base del bolso que es un rectángulo y 12 3/4" x 9 1/2" para el semi-triángulo que forma cada lado del bolso. Luego del proceso de lavado, el tamaño se reducirá considerablemente. Pero ya veremos mañana que pasa... No se pierdan el próximo episodio de mi primer aventura con la técnica de fieltro...

I made this bracelet today for Rachel in my beading class at Bead Connection. It has different animals hanging from it. It is going to be her graduation present.

Hoy hice esta pulcera para Rachel en mi clase de joyería. Tiene diferentes animalitos colgando. Este será su regalo de graduación.

We had Rachel preschool graduation last Monday June 13... For most parents it was just a cute event. For us, it was the celebration of a miracle...She has been accepted in kindergarthen in a regular Ed classroom.

El lunes pasado, 13 de Junio celebramos la graduación del Prescolar de Rachel. Para la mayoría de los padres solo fue un evento bonito... Para nosotros fue la celebración de un milagro. Rachel ha sido aceptada en una clase regular de Kinder.

What have I been doing??? This... For same crazy reason, I threw aside the projects that I was working on, and started this top for my little Rachel. I used a Sirdar pattern for the measurements but I included my own lace pattern. I love to design and experiment. It is so much more fun that following somebody else's ideas... Some day I hope to design my own stuff. In fact, the baby sweater that I am working on is my first creation. I am still working on it...but right now I just feel like knitting summery tops like this one. It took me 6 days to finish it.

Qué qué he estado haciendo? Esto. Por una semana tiré todos mis proyectos y empecé esta blusita de verano para Rachel. Usé un patrón de Sirdar para las medidas pero yo misma diseñé el encaje de adentro. Me encanta diseñar y experimentar. Es mucho más divertido que seguir un patrón. Algún día espero poder hacer mis propios patrones y diseños... De hecho el sueter de bebé en el que estoy trabajando es mi segundo diseño original. Todavía no lo he terminado porque con este calor no me siento de humor para tejer un artículo de invierno, sino todo lo contrario... Cuando lo termine planeo vender el patrón en E-Bay.
